Mr. Wright, 84, died Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Rush Hospital. He retired after 41 years from Citgo Petroleum. In his retirement years, he loved traveling all over the United States and Canada with his wife and their travel trailer. As a young man, he enjoyed fishing and hunting but in his latter years he enjoyed woodworking and carving nativity scenes and such for use in his church, Grace Fellowship Baptist Church. He also enjoyed gardening and canning the vegetables that he grew. He made the most of his retirement years.
Gerald is survived by his children Gerald Ellis Wright Jr; Christine D. Carson (Paul), and Cathy Wright Calhoun (Christopher); his grandchildren Chelsea Clark, James Ellis Carson, Cynthia Calhoun Bordelon, Christopher Eugene Calhoun, and Kaitlin Calhoun; 3 great grandchildren Alyssa Clark, Maddie Bordelon, and Amelia Bordelon; a sister Zelda Milam along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clifton and Beulah Wright; his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Calhoun Wright; 2 brothers and 1 sister.
