Woolwich – George Greenlaw, 81 of Phipps Point Rd., died at his home on April 3, 2010 with his beloved wife Joanne by his side. Mr. Greenlaw was born on October 9,1928 in Waterbury, Connecticut, the son of Aubrey E. and Mattie B. Robinson Greenlaw. He was educated in Connecticut and New Jersey schools and attended Colby College in Maine. On December 29, 1989, he married Joanne Johns and they made their home in Woolwich ever since. He was employed in the insurance industry, as a real estate broker, and for over 20 years he was manager of Yankee Lanes, where he was a top bowler. George was a kind, thoughtful gentleman with a great sense of humor. He was a popular man with many friends. George took great pride in his appearance and his pie-baking skills. He loved animals, especially cats. The couple”s two cats, Cokie and Callie, are part of the family. George enjoyed golfing, following the stock market, and boating. He was an avid reader, especially of WWII history, and an accomplished woodworker. George made many beautiful pieces of furniture for the couple”s home. Throughout George”s life, he loved Isle au Haut, having spent every summer there growing up at his family”s home at Robinson Point Lighthouse.
