George O Baker, 80 years old of New Gloucester Maine, lost his battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis on February 6, 2023. He passed peacefully in the comfort of his home, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Falmouth, December 23, 1942 to George O and Marian T ( Clark ) Baker. He was one of 13 children.  

He graduated from Falmouth High School in 1962. Shortly after he joined the Air Force, 1962-1966.  He spent most of his Military time in Holland, where in his free time he traveled though out Europe. 

After the military, he went to work for B&M Baked Beans in Portland. He was there for a couple of years and went on to work for Metro Bus Company. He was there from 1969 until his retirement in 2005. 

George was predeceased by his parents, George & Marian, his brothers Harry & Sonny, sisters, Ruthie & Georgiana.  Grandson Jordan Chase, and granddaughter Tara Chase.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Maxine Hartwell, his daughters , Elizabeth ( Baker ) Gaudette & husband Steve of Gorham, Terry Hartwell of Gray, Brenda ( Hartwell ) Chase,& husband Tom of New Gloucester. Sons Roger Hartwell and wife Sherri of New Gloucester, and Dana Hartwell of Auburn. 

His brothers Richard, his wife Jane of Portland, John and his wife Jean of Westbrook, Robert and his wife Sandy of Michigan, & Arthur & his wife Cindy of Florida. His sisters Dotty & her husband Steve of Windham, Peggy & her husband Percy of Nevada, & Barbara of Portland. Many nieces and nephews. 

His grandchildren, Kaitlin Hawkes ( Gaudette) & husband Nick, Matthew Gaudette, all of Gorham, Amanda Moon & husband Bob of Gray, Keny Hartwell & his wife Elizabeth of Windham, Marissa Crooker of New Gloucester, Mike Crandall of Auburn, Ashley Chase of Livermore Falls. 12 Great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
