At the age of 95 passed away on Monday, March 31, 2014. He was born on September 27, 1918 in Harpersfield, NY the son of Howard and Mabel (Cornell) Buck. George married the former Claire Ackart on December 25, 1939 in New York, and she preceded him in death on October 25, 2001. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ionia, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, making maple syrup, photography, and woodworking. George graduated from Cornell University, and spent most of his life as an educator of primary grades through college in both New York State and Michigan. He served his country in the Air Force during World War II as a gunnery instructor. Preceding him in death were his wife, Claire; grandson, David; 4 brothers, Edwin, Donald, Fred and Robert Buck. Surviving are 1 son, Eugene (Lori) Buck of Reston, VA; 2 daughters, Drs. Janet (Dennis) Arnold and Kaye Buck, both of Ionia; 6 grandchildren, Lys, Lene, Nathaniel, Andrew, Wade, and Molly; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Mary (Richard) Linhart of FL; sister-in-law, Dianna Buck of WA.
