Age 84, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2009. She was born on May 4, 1924 the daughter of Herman and Hildegard (Platte) Fandel. Jean was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers, and enjoyed cooking, baking, and quilting. On May 8, 1946 she married Bernard Bengel, Jr. and he survives her. Also surviving are her 3 daughters, Sandy (Brendon) Goerge, Ann Boak, and Beverly (George) Goerge, all of Fowler; 11 grandchildren, Scott, Ryan, Dan and Brad Goerge, Jeremy, Eric and Aaron Boak, and Jason, Brent, Nathan, and Lindsey Goerge; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Ernestine (Alvin) Fox of Fowler; sisters-in-law, Bernadine Fandel of Portland and Marilyn Fandel of Westphalia. She was preceded in death by her son, Gary Bengel, his wife Glee, and their daughter April; granddaughter Shelly Goerge; brothers, Denis and Edgar “Bud” Fandel.
