Gene Gajeski, 77, of rural Stephen, MN, passed away on Tuesday evening, November 22, 2022 at his home with his family by his side.
Gene Allen Gajeski was born on July 23, 1945 in Drayton, ND, the son of Roman and Bernice (Janikowski) Gajeski. He was raised in rural Stephen and he graduated from Stephen High School. Gene served in the US Army where he was stationed in Germany from 1964 – 1966. After his honorable discharge, he returned to the farm in rural Stephen. Gene would go to California in the winters for several years where he worked for McDonnell Douglas and Todd Shipyards. He also worked at the Nekoma Safeguard Complex in Nekoma, ND. On October 27, 1973, Gene was united in marriage to Suzanne Woinarowicz. They made their home in rural Stephen where he farmed.
He was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church, VFW and Stephen American Legion Post 390.
Gene collected and restored old John Deere tractors and coins. He enjoyed driving around the countryside looking at crops. Gene always wanted his family to know how much he loved them so he told them often.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife of 49 years, Suzanne; children, Justin (Kristen) Gajeski of Stephen, MN, Ryan Gajeski of Grafton, ND, Kristin (Aaron) Bina of Grand Forks, ND and Kari Rivard of East Grand Forks, MN; nine grandchildren, Gatlin and River Gajeski, Arianni and Alianna Gajeski, Aiden, Layla and Emily Bina and Taylor and Lauren Rivard; siblings, Ramona (Don Kuhn) Arch of Mesa, AZ, Laurel (Bruce) VanDake of Park Rapids, MN and Rick (Kim) Gajeski of Stephen, MN and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roman and Bernice and father-in-law, Ernest Woinarowicz.
