Gary Oliver Gebauer, 80, passed away peacefully at home in Laurel, MD on August 6, 2022.

Gary was born on 6/2/1942 in Washington, DC, the son of Edward Henry Gebauer and Helen Louise McClow. Gary grew up in Hyattsville attending Bladensburg High school.  He met his lifetime love Barbara when they were young and living in the same apartment complex in Hyattsville.  After they were married in 1967, they moved to Laurel Maryland where they built a life and lived for 55 years.  Gary worked in the flooring trade for numerous companies before starting his own business, Patuxent Flooring Contractors in 1983.   When he retired, he had more time for the outdoors where he loved to trap, fish, and hunt with family and friends.

Gary was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Laurel.

He was a proud member of the Maryland Fur Trappers Inc and was a volunteer at the Patuxent Wildlife Refuge.

Gary is survived by his wife of 55 years Barbara Louise, daughter Christine Allyn Gebauer Fritsch and husband  Joe, sister-in-law Susan Turner, brother-in-law Curtis Hall (Betty), Grandchildren Jodi Yatto (Eric), Jamie Fritsch (Cally), nieces Laurie Wichman (Ernie), Amy Pullan (Kevin), and Amanda Turner, nephew Eric Gebauer, Great grandchildren Brooks, Grady, Wynn, and Gracelyn. He was Uncle Gary and Mr. Gary to so many more.

Gary was preceded in death by parents Edward and Helen Gebauer, brothers Edward “Skeeter” and James, and nephews Eddie and Sean.
