Mr. Schmitz worked for Consumers Power for many years before retiring in 1987, was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the St. Joseph Society. He was a Veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army and was a member of the Fowler, Pewamo, Westphalia VFW Post. He loved fishing and hunting.
