Fred Klippel of St. James, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at the Phelps County Regional Medical Hospital. Fred was 91 years of age.
Fred was born on October 28, 1914 in McAlester, Oklahoma to his parents: Lena (Yoss) and Fred Henry Klippel. On November 10, 1945 he was united in marriage to Louise E. Schallenberg in the St. Stevens Lutheran Church in St. Louis, Missouri.
After serving in World War II, Fred attended Bookkeeping and Accounting-Business College in St. Louis, Missouri. He was in the grocery business with his brother-in-law for ten years in St. Louis; the Schallenberg Market after retirement, Fred and Louise moved to St. James in 1965. Fred was a subsitute mail carrier for a few years in rural St. James. He loved to bowl and to do gardening and always enjoyed to travel. He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church where he had served as an elder. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 2025 in Rolla, Missouri.
Fred is survived by his wife of the home: Louise E. Klippel; one brother: John Klippel and wife Betty of McAlester, Oklahoma; two sister: Bertha Smith and husband Bob of California; and Ruby Abbott of Virginia; brother-in-law: Herman Schallenberg and wife Vetta of St. James, Missouri; sister-in-law: Lillian Graczak of St. James, Missouri. Other extended family members and a host of friends who will miss him dearly.
Preceding Fred in death is his parents; two brothers: Henry and Oscar Klippel; ten sisters: Lucy Keplinger; Lidia Fent; Ella Ward; Lorene Baker; Edith Baxter; Mary Leimkuehler; Lena Rogenhofer; Annie Mason; and infant sisters: Elizabeth and Minnie Kippel; Sister -in-law and Brother-In-Law: Stella Lang and husband Elmer; Edwin and wife Elizabeth Schallenberg; and Marie Smith and husband Noah.
