Franklyn “Lindy” Ellsworth Rykken of Roseau was born on April 24, 1929 in Adrian, MN. He moved with his family to Roseau, MN in 1938, attended school in Roseau, graduating from Roseau High School in 1947.
Lindy then attended and graduated from Augsburg College in Minneapolis, and attended Syracuse University where he studied Russian Language. He also served in the United States Air Force during this time as an interpreter.
Lindy married Joanne Dallum on August 22, 1958 at Moe Lutheran Church in Roseau. They lived in Roseau all of their married lives and raised their three children here. He worked in the seed business for over 31 years with four different companies, but was associated with the MN Bluegrass Association his entire career. He retired in April of 1991.
He was an avid golfer for many years. He golfed until his health wouldn’t permit him to.
