Franklin “Red” George Sprung, 68, of Warroad, MN died Monday October 3, 2005 in the Roseau Area Hospital. He was born July 13, 1937 in Hayfield, MN to Albert and Helen (Abbas) Sprung. Red grew up in Lancing, MN and graduated from Austin High School.

Red lived in Stillwater, MN where he worked as a truck driver. While in the Warroad area he was employed at a small sawmill and worked in the woods logging, he also graded the forest roads in the Beltrami Forest. His hobbies included trap shooting at the area gun clubs and introducing kids and new people to the sport. He also enjoyed fishing and deer hunting in his younger years.

Red was a member of the Teamsters Union, the NRA, the Warroad Gun Club and a past president of the club. He took great pride in building up the gun club in Warroad.

He is preceded in death by his father, Albert Sprung; his step-father, William Bjork and his brothers, Ronald and Robert.

Survivors include his mother, Helen Bjork of Owatonna, MN; sons, Paul (Pat Wagner) Sprung of Stanchfield, MN; Dennis (Marion) Sprung of Warroad, MN; Albert (Nicole) Sprung of Brooklyn Park, MN; five grandchildren, John, Joel, Zack, Emma and Josiah Franklin Sprung; five sisters, Roberta, Eloise, Norma Jean, Lola and Marilyn; one brother, Rodney.
