Portland
Florence W. Olmstead went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 24, 2016. She was born on July 25, 1926 to Rose and Clarence Browning of Portland. She graduated from Portland High School in 1944 and went on to study music at Olivet College. Her love of music encompassed the life she had as a music teacher, choral director and directed many choral groups in the community that also included the Portland Centennial in 1969. Florence was also co-founder of the The Day of Music. Her love and compassion to help others accomplish their goals to learn to love music as she did was number one in her life. She used her musical gift to honor her Lord her whole life. As she approached her 90th year, she played in church for the last time on Christmas Eve 2015. Florence was preceded in death by her loving husband of 18 years, Bob Olmstead in 2001. She is survived by her children Deborah (Mike) Lorichon, Rebecca Dunham, and Durk (Teresa) Dunham; grandchildren Robin (Tom) Gross, David Lorichon, Laura (Troy) Sanderson, Josh and Joe Wise and Brooke Dunham; 7 great grandchildren.
