Fernanda “Ferdy” (Diomei) Aguiar, a former longtime Taunton resident, died at the Catholic Memorial Home in Fall River on Feb. 11, 2010.
She was 80 years old.
Born in Trieste, Italy, she lived in the U.S. since 1958.
Employed by Morton Hospital as a nurse’s assistant for over 31 years, she retired in 1993.
Mrs. Aguiar was a former member of the Italian Social Club, and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She leaves four sons, Franco Aguiar of Las Vegas, John and Joseph Aguiar, both of Taunton, and Steven Aguiar his wife Donna of Fall River; a daughter, Lisa Ferreira and her husband Michael of Assonet; a brother, Gianni Diomei of Italy; three sisters, Antonella, Adriana, and Gigiola Diomei, all of Australia; five grandchildren, Brendan Ferreira, Nicole Aguiar, Michael Ferreira Jr., Steven J. Aguiar, and Alexander J. Aguiar; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late Sandra Aguiar, and the sister of the late Dario and Egidio Diomei.
A Funeral Mass, and blessing of her cremated remains, will be held at St. Mary’s Church, Taunton on Saturday, Feb. 20th at 11 a.m.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
