It is with deep sadness that our family announce the death of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Sister. Evelyn (Evy) Wandell succumbed to cancer on March 18, 2023. She left us peacefully, in her own home, surrounded by family.

She was born on February 6, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY to Eileen and Joseph Velthaus. She was the devoted wife of 58 years to Alan R. Wandell who predeceased her on May 5, 2022. Evelyn is survived by her two sons, Douglas (Laura), David (Tatiana), and her cherished grandchildren, Dean, Jay, Ian, and Larissa. She is also survived by her loving siblings Helen, Gerard, Pauline, and Margee.

Evelyn graduated from Columbia Union College in Takoma Park, MD, and enjoyed a successful career as a writer and editor for the FDA. She was an active member of St. Louis Church in Clarksville, MD and the Shrine of St. Anthony in Ellicott City, Md. She had a strong connection and devotion to the Rosary and Our Lady of Fatima.

Evy will be sorely missed by many for her loving heart, great sense of humor, fun-loving personality, and intelligence. She had endless interests, but her life was driven mainly by family, friendships, and faith. A true empath, Evy was thrilled by the successes of others and hurt deeply for those in need.  She loved people, traveling, the arts, nature, and ideas, but most of all, Evy loved to laugh. She was the perfect audience for anyone with a joke and tickled by the silly-hearted. She cherished her relationships with family and those within her community, at the FDA, and in the Church.
