Ethel “Lorene” Riggs of Cherryville, Missouri passed away Sunday, March 18, 2012 in Crystal City, MO at the age of 93 years. She was born January 1, 1919 in Huzzah, MO to William Skaggs and Eva Chandler Skaggs. On December 12, 1933 in Huzzah, MO, she was united in marriage to Claude Riggs who preceded her in death in 1981.
Lorene was owner of Lorene’s Resale Store in Cherryville for over thirty years. She was a past member of the Steelville Assembly of God Church for thirty years.
She is survived by her two sons Kenneth Riggs and wife Helga of Wentzville, MO and Jim Riggs and wife Barbara of Cherryville, MO; one daughter Earlene Pollard and husband Carl of St. James, MO; one sister Gerene Coleman of Pevely, MO; sister-in-law Nina Skaggs of High Ridge, MO; seven grandchildren Jan, Tammy, James Jr., Brian, Kenneth Jr., Kelley and Jeff; thirteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents William and Eva Skaggs; husband Claude Riggs; one son Ivan Riggs; three brothers Rev. Herman Skaggs and wife Hildred, Radis Skaggs and wife Norma; Frank Evans and wife Eula; two sisters Irene Skaggs and infant sister; brother-in-law Earnest Coleman; and one grand-daughter Patricia;
The Family received friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Honored to be casket bearers were Ken Riggs, Jr., Jeff Riggs, Bob Swann, Erbon Riggs, Brian Riggs, and Jimmy Riggs.
