Esther (Asdghig) Lee Manoogian passed away May 7, 2016. Born November 8, 1925 in Highland Park, MI, she was the daughter of Samuel and Mary (Kasparian) Assarian. Young Asdghig was raised in a tight-knit Armenian community where custom, tradition, culture and heritage were held in high esteem. Esther graduated from Highland Park High School and began working as a bookkeeper/hostess for a renowned restaurant in the Fisher Building during WWII. While attending a wedding, she met Carl Manoogian, with whom she fell in love and married on November 17, 1951. Esther became a devoted and dedicated Armenian wife and mother who lived by the principles of love and family and instilled those values in her children as well. Although some may view this lifestyle as old-fashioned, Esther was, in fact, a modern and progressive woman who encouraged her children’s individuality and passion. Without judgment, she guided with love. With her zest for life, she inspired her children and grandchildren to explore and live life fully, but to never forget the importance of family. Esther was a devoted grandmother.
