Esther C. Donal, 81, of Steelville entered into eternal rest Wednesday evening, April 25, 2007 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. She was born Friday, November 13, 1925, in Cherry Valley, the daughter of Warfel and Dora (Causey) Halbert. Esther was united in marriage to Thomas “Tom” Donal on June 5, 1946 in Potosi and to this union four sons were born.
Those left to mourn her passing are three sons, Roger Donal and wife Darlene of Steelville, Jerry Donal and wife Carla of Florissant, and Bruce Donal and wife Cheryl of Cherryville; six grandchildren, Anita Donal, Clinton Donal and wife Kristina, Andrew Donal and wife Tina, Juniora Donal, Kenneth Donal and Douglas Donal; five great-grandchildren, Jaden Xander Riley Donal, Cierra Donal, Zachary William Donal, Cadance Nicole Donal, and Andrew Biondo; two brothers, Albert Halbert of Steelville and Gean Halbert of Steelville; two sisters, Irene Richards of Steelville, and Lois Anderson and husband Jack of Aldrich, Missouri, nephews, nieces and other family friends.
Esther was an owner of an antique shop and was always looking for glass ware. She was a member of the Davisville American Legion Woman’s Auxiliary and VFW Women’s Auxiliary. She will be remembered for working bingo at Gibbs Care Center and making lap blankets for the veteran’s residents at Gibbs Care Center and anyone else who needed one. For many years she was known to put flags on the graves of our American veterans in many cemeteries. She loved to cook, quilt, and crochet. She was a rockhound and her knowledge of rocks was extensive. She loved her family and animals. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
