Age 82, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2014. He was born on November 7, 1931 in Rock Springs, Texas, the son of Ramon and Sapopa (Pruneda) Rivera. Mr. Rivera was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, where he played guitar and was a Cantor. He was a veteran of U.S. Air Force, serving in the Korean War. Ernest retired from General Motors after 32 years of service. He enjoyed fixing cars for friends and family, and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2168. Ernest was passionate about his faith, was not only active in his parish, but also in the parishes of Ss. Peter and Paul and St. Edward. He was also very active in the Cursillo movement and ministry at the prisons. Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Tomas, Raymond and Antonio. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Maria; children, Linda Rivera, Mary Ann (Scott) Schafer, Cynthia Rivera, Dolores Rivera, Ernesto Rivera, Ramon (Kerri) Rivera, and Lucinda (Robert) Gallaway; sister, Diana Rivera; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and extended family members.
