Emma Johanna Hutchings, 85, of Steelville, MO passed away Friday, July 11, 2008 at her daughter’s home in Jamestown, MO. She was born August 26, 1922 in Vienna, Austria to Anton and Johanna (Ferstek) Hus. She was married to Luther Max Hutchings who preceded her in death on December 12, 1992.
She will be sadly missed by her three daughters, Judith Poncet and husband Ron of Steelville, MO, Johanna Couch and husband Rev. Myron of Jamestown, MO and Jenelle Hutchings of Kirkwood, MO; nine grandchildren, Greg Poncet and wife Julie, Claudia Montgomery and husband Jim, Laura Whitley and husband Wes, Chris Couch, Ted Couch and wife, Shelly, Dan Couch and wife Carrie, Heather Flippen and husband Wayne, Erik Presnell and wife Melissa and Chad Presnell; fourteen great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Jaclyn, Jenna, Charlie, Jamie, Abigail, Andrew, Megan, Amanda, Logan, Jasmine, Max, Alex, and Kyle; one great-great-grandchild, Ashlyn; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Anton, one infant son, Michael and one sister, Steffi Proto.
Emma was a member of the First Baptist Church of Prairie Home and attended the Cherryville Baptist Church.
She was also a member of the Happy Hour Extension Club of Steelville and the Ladies Quilt Group of Cherryville Baptist Church. In her spare time, Emma enjoyed knitting and cooking her children’s favorite stuffed peppers.
