Emelia “Millie” Engstrom, 90, Warren, MN, died on Friday, May 14, 2004 at the Good Samaritan Center in Warren.

Emelia Alma Engstrom was born on January 29, 1914 in the Ringbo community in East Valley Township, Marshall County, MN, the daughter of Ole P. and Alma (Johnson) Saxberg. She was raised and attended country school in East Valley Twp. After her schooling, she worked on the family farm. She also did housekeeping, worked at the Land O Lakes plant in Thief River Falls, MN and worked for her aunt, Hulda Betting at the Blue Moon CafAC. in Minneapolis, MN. Emelia married Hughey Engstrom in 1948 at Newfolden, MN. They made their home in East Valley Twp. where they farmed. Their two children, David and Sonia, were born while they lived on the farm. In 1956, Hughey took a job with the Minnesota Highway Department and the family lived in Halma and Hallock before moving to Warren in 1959. In 1961, Millie took a job in the dietary department of the Warren Community Hospital. Hughey was killed in a hunting accident in 1963. Millie continued to make her home and raise her children in Warren. She retired from her job at the age of 73 in 1977. Emelia moved to the Good Samaritan Center in 2001.

Millie was a natural born caregiver of others.
