Elwanda Pearl Moreland of St. James passed away quietly with her family at her side on Friday March 19, 2010 at the St. John’s Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. She was 83 years and 19 days of age.

Elwanda, or Wanda as she was known by her family and friends, was born March 1, 1927 at Lahoma, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of the late James Edward and Lula Eliza Strain Albright.

On December 18, 1959 in Phelps County, Wanda was united in marriage to R. Eugene Moreland. Gene entered into rest January 20, 1993.

Wanda Moreland is survived by her loving family including three dear sons: Jim White of St. James; John White and wife Beverly of Carney, Oklahoma; and Mike Gan and wife Lisa of St. James. Three beloved daughters: Diana Clark and husband Mike of Dearborn, Mo.; Kim Cardetti and husband Richard of St. James and Georgia Turrenine and husband Charlie of St. James. She is further survived by one Brother: Bill Albright and wife Lillian of Imperial, Mo. Sisters: Vel Donna Weaver of North Little Rock, Arkansas; Jimmeta Detillier and husband Dave of Blue Springs, Mo. Along with 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Wanda Moreland is preceeded in death by two siblings: Merl Albright and La Vonna Chapman, along with 2 grandchildren.

Wanda Moreland was a hairdresser for more than 20 years and owned and operated the Forest City Beauty Salon for many years. In later years she was a floral designer with her daughter-in- law Lisa Gan. Wanda was a wonderful lady who always had a kind word and a gentle smile. Wanda’s faith was very apparent in her life and she always kept her focus on above and not on the worries of this world. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
