Bath – Elsie Mae Mailly, 88, of Bath, Maine, passed away Tuesday, January 13th, 2015 surrounded by her family at Midcoast Hospital, Brunswick, Maine from complications of influenza. Elsie was born on November 28th, 1926 in Bath, Me., the daughter of John and Elsie Reed, married to the late Maynard Walter Mailly and sister to John Reed II, Peter Reed. She was also predeceased by Alma Strout Atwood, Robert Reed, Harriet Rose Paige and infant daughter Sherry Ann Peters.

Elsie was fond of her earlier employment in Bath.  While at the Bath Children’s Home, she generously gave time and opened her own home to the resident children to celebrate holidays with her own family. For many years she cooked at the Bath Memorial Hospital coffee shop and was known for her delicious treats. Many till today, remember her days at Shaw’s Supermarket where she greeted all with her warm smile and courteous service.

Elsie loved Bath and warmed the hearts of many. She was a devoted friend with a huge heart, one that could not be measured by human hands. She held a garden of love for her grandchildren, “Nana” as they called her.  A quote to describe her, used by her grandson, Ryan; “People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care.” John C Maxwell. An additional quote to describe Elsie by her granddaughter Arelitsa; “My grandmother who was a loving woman has joined my grandfather today to watch over their family and become our guardian angel.” Granddaughter expressed. Nana, we all wish we had more time.

Elsie is survived by daughter Vicki Sprague of Bath, son Everett Main Jr. of Wiscasset, Daughter in law Jeanne Main, brother John Reed II and wife Flora Thayer Reed of Woolwich, Peter Reed and wife Betty Wallace Reed of Florida; she is also survived by her grandchildren, Nicole Sprague of Portland, Jeremy Main, wife Jasmine Main of Helendale California, Ryan Sprague, wife Funmi Sprague of Tampa, Florida, Arelitsa Barth, husband Joseph Barth of Johnston, R.I.  and great grandchildren, Ayanna Main, Gavin Main, Jocelyn Main, Seba Abou Ouf and Declan Barth.

The family would like to extend their greatest appreciation for the continued communication of support and sharing of cherished memories with Elsie, during this tough time. They would especially like to thank the nursing staff at Midcoast Hospital. “Tess, your guidance and care will never be forgotten.” As well as; Dr. Chad LaChance and Dr. Lora Jobe for their ability to ease us through this life ending process and tremendous support. They would also like to send a thank you to the entire Small Point Baptist Church community, for providing years of continued faith and love to Elsie. It was her home away from home.

The family will be holding a service on Saturday, January 17th, at 10:30 a.m. at Small Point Baptist Church, 1754 Main Road, Phippsburg, Maine.
