Ella “Mabel” Simpson, nee Adams, 93, of Steelville, MO passed away Friday, June 3, 2011 at Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, MO. She was born April 14, 1918 in Steelville, MO to John Matthew Adams and Suzanna (Ray) Adams. On April 28, 1934 in Steelville, MO, she was united in marriage to Leonard Simpson who preceded her in death in 1989.
She will be sadly missed by two daughters, Sue Horne and husband Kenneth of Reed Springs, MO and Jeanette Summers and husband Charles of Middle Brook, MO; twelve grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Sandy Simpson of Cuba, MO; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard; one son, Maurice Simpson; one daughter, Wilma Landzettel and husband Robert; two brothers, Clarence Adams and wife Ruth and infant brother, Harry Adams; five sisters, Edith Isgriggs and husband Clarence, Ethel Pinson and husband Roy, Leona Halbert and husband Horace, Gladys Summers and husband Walter and Vivian Ransom and husband Dewey; and one great grandchild.
Mabel was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed quilting and collecting “knick-knacks.” She also enjoyed cooking for her family and was considered a “good cook.
