Elizabeth Lucille Negley, age 79, died Thursday, April, 7, 2016, at Carefree Assisted Living in Babbitt, MN. She was born July 16, 1936, in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Theodore and Elise (Fay) Almquist. She graduated from St. Francis High School. Beth was united in marriage to Gordon L. Negley on March 21, 1959, in Columbia Heights, MN. They lived much of their lives in Princeton, MN, before moving to Babbitt in 2004.
Beth dedicated her life to serving Christ and sharing His love with those around her. She was a member of Woodland Presbyterian Church in Babbitt and the Order of Eastern Star in Princeton. She will be remembered for her smiles, hugs, singing, and being a gracious hostess. No one left Beth and Gordon’s home without enjoying a wonderful meal and genuine fellowship. Beth is rejoicing with the Lord and her beloved Gordon who died exactly five years to the day before her.
Beth is survived by her children: Don (Leanne) Negley of Babbitt, MN, Robert (Robyn) Negley of Princeton, MN, Jennell (Rory) Pettit of Dayton, MN, and Chris (Kristin) Negley of Rochester, MN; her brothers: Robert (Sandy) Almquist of Barnum, MN and Daniel (Maxine) Almquist of Moose Lake, MN; her sisters-in-law: Marlene Almquist of Cromwell, MN, and Mavis Almquist Schmidt of Fairhope, AL; in-laws Ralph (MaryEllen) Negley, Donald (June) Negley, and Jane (Gene) Webster; grandchildren: Morgan (Tom) Klatt, Cameron Negley, Jalayne Negley- Pettit, Jalisa Negley- Pettit, Mindy (Jason) Swanson, Amber (Paul) Keeler, Aaron Negley, Caren Kounsa, Joan Kounsa, Jennifer Kounsa, Neil Kounsa, and Izak Negley; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers: George and Earl Almquist; son: Ngone Kounsa; and in-laws: Gene (Dorothy) Negley and Burke (Lee) Negley.
The family wishes to acknowledge a special thank you to the Stewartville Care Center, Carefree Assisted Living, Dr. Joseph Schwinghamer, Tom and Peggy Asplund, Al and Karen Maddern, Tony and Sharon Serena, Mike and JoAnn Clemmer, and her Woodlawn Presbyterian Church family for the care and love they extended to our mother.
