Portland – Elizabeth Maria Latini, 85, of Falmouth passed away on May 9, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Rehabilitation and Residence with her loving husband by her side, and will join her son Matthew in heaven.
In addition to Matthew, she is predeceased by her sister Salma, brothers Arthur and William, and parents Aman and Elias Maria. She is survived by her husband Arthur Latini, their son Joseph and his son Joseph, Jr., their daughter Suzanne Gikas and her husband Matthew and their sons Nathaniel and Jacob, their great-granddaughter Vivian, her brother Raymond and his wife Mary, as well as seven nieces and nephews and ten great-nieces and great-nephews.
Elizabeth was born on April 16, 1930. She graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford with high honors, where she was a member of the National Honor Society in 1948. Elizabeth moved to Portland after graduation and met Arthur through mutual friends. They married in 1953 and had three children. They were married 61 years last October.
Elizabeth worked for B&M in the billing department and later for CMP. She then worked for the City of Portland for 26 years until retiring in 1995. She worked in the Health and Building Inspection & Planning Departments. She volunteered after retirement at the St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen.
Elizabeth enjoyed camping in her earlier years.
