Elizabeth “Betty” L. Simmons

Passed away on January 19, 2007. She was born the daughter of Clarence and Rose (Zwiefel) Browning. Betty spent her whole life in cosmetology, she owned and operated her own salon for many years. She was known for her care and generosity towards her fellow colleagues and friends, which was the cornerstone of her business. She was a member of the National Association of Cosmetology and was a past president of the Michigan Association of Cosmetology. Betty graduated from Portland High School and was a member of the Peoples Church in East Lansing, East Lansing Edgewood United Church, and the First Congregational Church in Portland. After she retired from the salon, she was proud to be employed at Jacobsons in East Lansing. Betty was known for her generous spirit toward her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, former husband Floyd L. Simmons, sister Harriet Kelly, and brother Clarence Orlando Browning. She is survived by her son Mark (Ellen) Simmons of Bath, daughter Minda (Kevin Dunn) Simmons of Show Low Arizona, grandchildren Nathan, Benjamin, Elizabeth, Joseph, Jessica, Christianna, Elisa, and Lauren, great-granddaughter Ellyson Rhae, sister Florence Olmstead, nieces Debbie (Michael) Lorichon and Becky Dunham, and nephew Durk Dunham.
