Elizabeth Jean Morris, also known by her loved ones as Phody, Pho, and Mommy, age 82, of Laurel, Maryland, passed away and went to be with the Lord on February 19, 2023.
Born June 2, 1940 in Laurel, Maryland, as daughter of Anna Brown and William Chaney. She lived her entire life in the Laurel, MD area and worked for Ingram Entertainment. Her whole life was spent taking care of her, and other children, along the way. She took on caretaker role at a very young age, even when she was still a child herself. It is who she was and what she lived for. Giving up her own life and dreams to take care of others. Her loved ones would agree that she was the “Best Mother Ever” as she singlehandedly raised 3 decent children and mothered others along the way.
Mommy/Pho loved going out on Sunday mornings and getting breakfast from the deli. Especially the homemade potatoes with onions in them. Plus stopping by McDonalds and Dunkin Donuts on the way. Plus driving by the dogwood tree that Pal planted in Columbia many, many years ago.
She loved the holiday get togethers, insisting on doing them each year. She loved the beach and all the good food there, as well as going to the Hammond School yard sale every May until they stopped having them. She loved Charlie Pride music and reading books. Said you can go anywhere in reading a book. She loved ‘babies’. She loved simple things. But most of all she loved us, her loving Family.
Elizabeth is survived by her loving children James Morris (Biggy), William Morris (Pal), and Beatrice Morris (Bea), grandchildren Heather Morris, D’Anna Morris, Alex Morris, Kenny Howard, Anna Canter, and great grandchildren Will Morris and Aria Morris as well as many nieces and nephews, including Mary and John Laddbush and family, Susan Giddings and family, Sharon Morris, Lisa Morris and family, Jake Morris and family, Rudy Morris, Gary Canter, and Hope Phelp. Elizabeth is preceded in death by parents Anna Brown and William Chaney, siblings Bo and Milly Chaney, Buttons Chaney, Alice (Possy) Morris, Geneva (Dumpling) and George (Bud) Gidding, Rosalyn (Sissy) Evans, and Sonny, Robin Giddings, as well as her baby daughter, Anna Irene.
You were the wind beneath our wings, Mom. Now it is time for you to soar and watch from up above all the good that we will do in this world, as you were our greatest Love and Teacher. The Wind beneath our Wings. Pho/Ma we will make you proud. With everlasting and endless love, Pal, Biggy and Bea.
