She was a 1956 graduate of Caroline High School in Denton and became a loving mother and a homemaker. She loved her family, reading, crossword puzzles, and Western movies. Mrs. Hamby is survived by her husband whom she married September 29, 1984, Walter G. Hamby of Dover, DE; four daughters: Carolyn L. Hinebaugh (Ashley) of Dover, Barbara A. Welzel (Rick) of Denton, Donna K. Perrego (Pete) of Dover, and Ruth E. Hardy (Phil) of Dover; four sons: Alfred J. Edwards, Jr. “Jimmy” (Sally) of Wyoming, DE, David L. Edwards (Teresea) of Henderson, MD, Michael A. Edwards (Brenda) of Queenstown, MD, and John R. Hardy (Deanna) of Clayton, DE; two sisters: Ann Ball of St. Michaels, MD and Sharon Satterfield of Windsor, SC; a brother, Norris Dean of Smyrna, DE; 17 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; and her first husband, Alfred J. Edwards, Sr. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth “Buck” Dean and Bill Dean, and her second husband, John Robert Hardy, Sr.
