Elizabeth V. “Betty” Wild, age 88 of Virginia and formerly of Ely and Tower died Sunday, April 4, 2010 in St. Michael’s Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born March 22, 1922 in Springfield, MN, the daughter of John and Mary (Peyla) Wild. After graduating from high school, she graduated from St. Teresa’s College in Winona with a degree in Education. Betty taught in the Sanborn, MN, Worthington, Tower and Ely School Districts. In 1951 Betty and parents moved to Tower, MN to be closer to relatives, and in 1959 they moved to Ely. In 1971 Betty was in a pedestrian – vehicle accident; which required her to retire from teaching after 28 years. After her retirement from teaching, Betty lived in the family home with her brother, Bob. In 1997 they moved to the Washington Manor in Virginia; in 2003 they moved to Edgewood Vista in Virginia, later they made their home at St. Michaels. Betty was a volunteer at the Ely Bloomenson Nursing Home for over 15 years. She dedicated her life to caring for others.
Betty is survived by numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Robert “Bob”; and other relatives.
