Elizabeth “Betty” C. Carlson, age 81, longtime resident of Hibbing died peacefully Monday, December 23, 2013, in the Guardian Angels Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hibbing. She was born September 17, 1932, in Bertha, MN the daughter of Henry and Clara (Decker) Beiries. She attended school in Parkers Prairie. Betty was united in marriage to Ervin Carlson on June 6, 1951 in Bertha.
Betty worked as a homemaker, but was well known for her wedding cakes, and her work as a caregiver. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hibbing, the garden club, and was a Cub Scout Leader. She enjoyed fishing, polka music and dancing, sewing and quilting.
Betty is survived by her husband: Ervin; four children: Barbara (Richard) Grace of Mankato, MN, Donald (Gayle) Carlson, Lynda Carlson, and Greg Carlson all of Hibbing; two brothers: Elmer (Elnora) and Jake (Shirley) Beiries; 10 grandchildren: Shanon (Andrea), Jeffrey (Rachel), Michael (Jessica), Amanda (Jerel), Melissa (Randy), Andrew (Kristine), Amanda, Matthew (Jessica), Jennifer (Nate), and Tyler; six great-grandchildren: Andrea, Emma, Danny, Nicholas, Kylie, and Ethan; special friends: Lorna, Millie, and Lulu; and her special kitty: Tootie.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister: Inez.
