Elinor Ardis Gustafson, 84, of Roseau died Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at Life Care Roseau Manor. She slipped away peacefully surrounded by much love.
Elinor was born July 24, 1923 to Gilbert and Cora (Gislason) Thompson. They lived in Hendrum, MN until Elinor was five years old. Growing up on a farm in Ross, MN she enjoyed helping her dad with the many outside chores. She attended country school at Ross and graduated from Roseau High School. Following in her dad’s footsteps she became a student at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. She returned to Roseau and was employed as a teller at 1st National Bank.
Elinor married Nathan (Gus) Gustafson on February 5, 1944. They lived in Grafton, ND until 1949 when they moved back to Badger. Elinor and Gus worked side by side operating and managing the Badger State Bank and Roseau Insurance Agency. She loved working with people and helping customers. Elinor was a pioneer in working full-time outside the home and raising a family of five children. She also loved singing in the church choir, attending church activities and being involved in the Garden Club.
