Elaine Elizabeth Swenson, 68, of Roseau, MN, passed away on Saturday, March 11th, 2017 at Altru Hospital surrounded by family and friends.
Elaine was born on January 12, 1949, in Roseau, MN, the daughter of Elmer and Elizabeth (Hammer) Erickson. She grew up in Malung, MN and attended school in Roseau, MN. Elaine managed the Roseau American Legion until her retirement in 2015. Everyone knew Elaine at the Legion. She was a second mother to many, an ear just to listen to, and happily fed hundreds of hockey players over the years. Many times she would start early in the morning and would not get home until the next day. Taking care of everyone else was what she loved to do.
She loved all people deeply, who in turn, loved her because of her quick humor, big heart and generous personality. She was a great mother, grandmother and friend to many. She was incredibly proud of her children and their families and took great joy in the time she spent with them.
Loving family members who survive Elaine include her 3 children, Sherry Grahn of Austin, TX, Peter (Dennae) Swenson of Bismarck, ND, Shelly (Kathleen) Swenson of Scandia, MN; mother, Elizabeth Erickson of Roseau; brother, Duane (Barb) Erickson of Roseau, MN. Also surviving Elaine is her grandchildren, Brittany, Emily, Madisen and Peyton Swenson, and Bailey and Evan Grahn; Great grand son Brody along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Elmer; brother Bernie.
