Eileen “Meme” Cape, 87, of Steelville entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at the Missouri Baptist hospital in Sullivan. She was born Saturday, January 3, 1920 in Hinch, Liberty Township Missouri the daughter of Walter and Jesse (Harmon) Clonts. She was married to Gerald Eldon Cape on May 13, 1936 in Rolla, Missouri, enjoying 50 years together. In 1948, Jana and Lana came into their lives and completed their family.

Eileen was a helpmate to her husband. She was a homemaker and mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was kindhearted, hardworking, and fun to be around. She was a good friend. She was a good Christian and a member of the Presbyterian Church of Steelville.

Those left to mourn her passing are her daughters, Jana Earhart and husband, Darryl and Lana Haffer and husband Jim; four grandchildren, Tracey Keeven and husband Jeff, Gerald Earhart and wife Crystal, Ruth Diaz and husband Carlos, and Blake Haffer and wife Suzie; eight great-grandchildren, Jessica Keeven, Clayton Earhart, Devin, Alexis, Tanner, Courtney, and Conner Diaz, and Bailey Haffer all of Steelville; two brothers, Lindell Clonts and wife Christine of St. James, and Emery Clonts and wife Marlene of Steelville; sisters-in-law, Donna Clonts of Ballwin, Lillian Clonts of Phoenix, AZ and Margaret Cape of Steelville; and brother-in-law, Burdett Cape of West Plains; nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald, on February 26, 1987; her parents; seven brothers, Buck, Estel, Lester, Glenn, Raymond, Darrell, and Paul Clonts; brothers and sisters-in-law, Reba Cape, Theresa and Ed Schwieder, Elaine and Russell Cape, Juanita and Norman Cape, and James Cape.
