Brunswick- Edward Thomas Reynolds, 79, of Linscott Way, passed away on Wednesday, October 6th at Parkview Hospital. Edward was born in New Haven, Ct, the son of Warren and Cathryn (Carney) Reynolds.
He followed in his father & brother”s footsteps, joining the United States Navy, his desire was to be a Sailor & that he was; 1948 thru 1953 he served in the Navy, onboard the Philippine Sea, he sailed the world including two tours of Korea during the Korean conflict. He remained in contact with many of his fellow shipmates. Later joining the Phil Sea Assoc. & attending many reunions thru-out the U.S.. As a young boy Ed sailed the Long Island Sound & New Haven Harbor, his love for the sea never left him.
He married Geraldine Ploga in October 1954. They happily raised two daughters, Debra and Laura. His career brought him to Bath where in West Bath he became first selectman. He was a conscientious member of the community.
He & Geraldine lived on the Hill Road in West Bath while he continued with his work as a government employee assigned to the Bath Iron Works. Edward was able to pursue his hobby of hauling lobsters in his small skiff. He enjoyed his larger boats also, often taking friends, family and acquaintences for tours of the coastline. His love of the ocean was only surpassed by his love of his family; his daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren.
In 1987 Edward & Geraldine moved to Coastal Estates in Brunswick.
