Edward P. Sterling, a longtime resident of Columbia, MD passed away on November 12, 2017 at Medstar Montgomery Hospital at the age of 87. He was born on February 27, 1930 to the late Saluthiel W. and Lucille V. Sterling in Terra Alta, West Virginia. Following high school he served a 4 year term in the U.S. Air Force, before marrying the love of his life and starting a family of eight children.
Edward is described by his family as a very hard worker. He worked as a self-employed tile contractor for over 50 years before retiring.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years Thelma “Betty” Sterling; loving children Nancy Clark (Gregory), Linda Melton, Cathy Miller (Bill), Eddie Sterling (Brenda), Greg Sterling, Mike Sterling (Gail), Roger Sterling (Tara), and Pamela Eslin (Robby); cherished grandchildren Tabatha, Niki, Carla, Stacy, Michael, Christie, Mary, the late Little Eddie, Mark, Justin, Little Greg, Laura, Anthony, Jeanna, Jennifer, Sammi, Megan, Cassidy, Brian, Nicholas, Clint, Ashley, Kayla; siblings Betty McKelrath, Wally, Joe, Ron, and Shirley Murphy, and the late Max Sterling and Gerald Murphy. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed.
