Wiscasset – Edward Noble Simpson, 84, of Wiscasset, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the Bodwell House in Brunswick. He was born in Belfast, Maine, on September 17, 1932, the son of Orville & Mabel (Noble) Simpson. He grew up in Bath and graduated from Morse High School, Class of 1950. After high school, Ed went to work for Bath Iron Works by entering the apprentice program to become a Machinist. In the fall of 1952, he married Betty-Jane Willis. In November, he joined the United States Coast Guard and proudly served his country for 4 years. Upon returning home to his bride, the couple resided in Bath and later in Georgetown to raise their family. Edward continued his employment with BIW working nights and a lobsterman by day. He loved working for himself, always trying to make things better for his family. He was also a Ski Lift Inspector for the State of Maine. For 25 years he owned Simpson’s Oceanfresh Seafood Market in Wiscasset which was operated by his son Scott.
Ed loved ballroom dancing, fishing and bird hunting and being an avid outdoorsmen and an animal lover, he owned Arabian Horses, which he rode for many years.
Ed was predeceased by his daughter Doreen E. Bragg and a sister Gertrude Holmes.
He leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Betty-Jane Simpson of Wiscasset; a daughter, Susan Gray and her husband Albert of Wiscasset; a son Scott Simpson of Edgecomb; 8 grandchildren, Amy, Melissa, Katy, Benjamin, Heather, Rachel, Kyle & Meredith; 4 great grandchildren, Carver, Crimson, Ava & Theodore; nieces, nephews and many beloved friends.
