Obituary for Edward Albrecht

Edward Albrecht, 86, of Williams, MN, died Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at the LakeWood Care Center in Baudette. He was born February 13, 1921 to Anton and Carolina (Sladky) Albrecht in Royalton, MN. He moved to Zippel Township in 1939, where he lived with his sister, working in the area before enlisting in the US Army.

Ed was a United States Army Veteran of World War II serving from 1942-45. In 1946 he bought a 160 acre farm in Zippel Township where he raised gain and tended livestock, until he was hospitalized in late November. He worked on the farm during the summer months and worked in the woods as a logger in the winter months from 1945 to 1995. He was working the fields driving the tractor and combing this past fall at the age of 86, his love was to work the fields.

His hobbies included taking pictures and some winter fishing. His favorite hobby was deer hunting with his old 30-30 he bought following the war, which he used for over 50 years. He actually wore out the gun and his children bought him a new gun in 1995, which he used every year following.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura; his sons, Nicholas and David Albrecht; a son-in-law, Richard Sporlein; brothers and sisters, Mary Clear, Joseph Albrecht, Anna Albrecht, Frances Senzek, Richard and Charles Albrecht.

Survivors include his children, Marjie Sporlein; Andy (Debbie) Albrecht; Sam Albrecht and Albert (Mary) Albrecht all of Williams, MN; his grandchildren, Suzie (Jamey) Gunderson of Trail, MN; Edward, Crystal and Matthew Albrecht all of Williams, MN; his great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Shelby and Sydnie Gunderson all of Trail, MN; his sisters, Bertha (Floyd) Kohman of Chaska, MN; Jennie (Alvin) LaValla of Kabetogama, MN; Louise Albrecht of International Falls, MN; Josie (Junior) LaValla of Hasting, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
