Obituary
Edgar Paul Brown passed away Monday, February 11th, 2019 at the age of 81. He is survived by his Sons, Edward (Donna) Brown of Wentzville, Missouri and Eric (Peggy) Brown of Hannibal, Missouri; Grandson James (Jessica) Brown of Philadelphia, Missouri, Granddaughters Sunitha and Samy of Wentzville, and Great Granddaughter Jalynn of Philadelphia…and the often spoke about but never actually met “Uncle John” who was the subject of decades of jokes and stories! He is preceded in death by his wife Sandra (Simpson), father, James Milton Brown, his mother, Georgia Ellen Brown (Hancox), and his brother Richard Lee Brown. ‘Ed’ was a ‘Man of All Seasons’ and began work as a Pastry Delivery Man in Racine, Wisconsin in the early 50’s (his sweet-tooth was Legendary). He joined the Navy as a Radioman in the mid 1950’s and sailed from San Diego, California to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Hong Kong, the Philippines, then transferred to Norfolk, Virginia and sailed to Malta, Naples, Rome, Spain, Portugal, and Jamaica before being Honorably Discharged and moving to California. There he worked in the onion fields of the southwest, became a typewriter repairman, house painter, Motel Landlord, Western Union Agent, and Geologist for the Sunshine Silver Mine in Idaho. Ed then moved to Missouri to work with his father as a mechanic before hiring on to help build the Clarance Cannon Dam in Northeast, Missouri in the 1970’s. During that time, he also worked for the Missouri Conservation Department primarily at (and living on) Ranacker Wildlife area south of Frankford, Missouri (a job he often stated as his Favorite). From here, Ed traveled to Kansas to take work at a package delivery company and then back to Missouri and work until retirement at factories in the North East Missouri, area. After retirement, Ed worked as a Transport Driver for the Crews of the Burlington Northern Railroad and finally accepting a position as Armed Security Guard at the Social Security Department in Hannibal, Missouri. Ed delighted in Humor and Adventure. Always ready for seeing what was just over the next hill, or just around the next bend in the road. He will be, and is, Greatly missed by His Family and his Friends that knew him Best.
