He sailed into the South Pacific theatre of war, where he served in Guam and earned several medals. Returning to civilian life, he attended the University of Detroit and went on to study dentistry at the University of Michigan, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He opened his successful dental office in Detroit and later moved to Dearborn, from where he retired after many years. Because of his expertise, Dr. Hoplamazian became the Chief of Dentistry for Detroit Harper Hospital (for 36 years) and served in the Northeast Regional Board of Dental Examiners. He belonged to many professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists, Frances B. With his charitable outreach, he became a founding member and Past President of the 100 Hyes, a philanthropic organization of men who help the needy. In his leisure time, Aris loyally attended every home game of the UM football team and was also a devoted golfer. With his family, they took seasonal trips to Northern Michigan.
