Douglas “Mac” T. MacDonell, age 68, of Lake Odessa, passed away on July 19, 2006 in Ann Arbor. He was born on July 2, 1938 in Alpena and moved to Ionia well before staring school. Mac built life-long relationships while in Ionia which continued through his school years, professional life and into retirement. He possessed a natural athletic ability and in his younger years had a tremendous passion for basketball and hand ball. In his later years that passion included golf. Mac attended college at Aquinas in Grand Rapids where he graduated in 1960. He went on to earn his graduate degree at MSU where he also developed his sills as an avid Spartan fan. For over 30 years, Mac worked for the State of Michigan Department of Correction, where he continued to build strong friendships with his colleagues.
