Douglas Edward Solo, age 69, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2022 with his three children by his side after a short battle with esophageal cancer.

Doug was born in Baudette, MN, on May 6, 1953 to Gerald and Mavis (Lee) Solo. He attended school in Indus, MN. After school he worked at Marvin Windows where he met Peggy Lund. They were married on May 10, 1971. From this marriage came three children; Cristal, Janelle, and Jesse.

Doug had many different jobs in his life such as Marvin Windows, Heatmor, CN Railroad, farming, and logging but his favorite was auto body painting. He had his own garage/shop at home.

After his divorce he lived in Roosevelt for a while then Warroad, finally ending up in Baudette. He had many good friends along the way and loved entertaining family and friends. He always had a good story or two.

Doug discovered he had throat cancer in September and passed shortly after that. He wanted to spend what time he had left with family and friends. He will always be remembered for his good heart and love of gab. He will be greatly missed.

Doug is survived by hit three children: Cristal Cole of Williams, MN, Janelle (Jeff) Huerd of Warren, MN, Jesse (Crystal) of Warroad, MN; grandchildren Paige (Ian) Fay of Thief River Falls, MN, Savannah (Ryan) Huerd of Thief River Falls, MN, Josh (Hali) Cole of Bemidji, MN; great grandchildren Annalise, Violet, and Aoife; siblings Diane (Larry) Dobbs of Birchdale, MN, Allen (Trudy) of International Falls, MN, Janice (Roger) Danielson of International Falls, MN, Cindy (Chris) Balaski of Loman, MN, Robert (Jody) Solo of Williams, MN, Judy (Tom) Anderson of Stratton, Ontario, Canada.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Mavis; son-in-law Leonard Cole and great granddaughter Nora Crosson.
