Doris Helen Fontaine, of Denton, MD, formerly of Frederick, MD, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 31, 2016, at the Caroline Home for Hospice in Denton. She was 88 years old.
Born in Elizabeth, NJ, Doris was the daughter of the late Denton G. Scott and Helen E. Norris Scott. She grew up in Elizabeth and attended school there.
Doris met her husband, a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and the Korean War, when he was in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. They were married on April 29, 1950. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved cooking, crocheting, ceramics, and painting. They had lived in Brooklyn, NY, Beachwood, NJ, and Long Beach, MS. After her husband passed away on March 23, 1990, she lived in Frederick, MD for 17 years before moving into Homestead Manor Assisted Living in Denton, MD.
Mrs. Fontaine is survived by two sons: Richard (Rick) S. Fontaine (Sonia) of Milford, DE and Bruce H. Fontaine (Shelle) of Corinth, MS; two daughters: Lynn M. Meek of San Francisco, CA and Doris Ann Rinehart (Darren) of Marion, OH; and a brother, Thomas Scott of Atlantic City, NJ; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Denton Alfred “Bucky” Scott.
