Dietz, Doris Ann age 86, of Plymouth died peacefully at home on September 23rd surrounded by her loving family. Doris was devoted to her husband, Mike, of 61 years and her family. Born in Lansing, Michigan to Sadie and Clair Runyan, Doris graduated from Michigan State University where she earned a B.A. degree in elementary education. During her lifetime, Doris taught both preschool and kindergarten. While at Michigan State, she was a member of the Tridelt sorority and remainded an active member in later years. Doris became very involved in volunteerism both in church and her community. She devoted many hours to the Wayzata Community Church where she and Mike were Heritage Members. Some of the church groups in which she was active include Thimblebees, Altar Guild, Pastoral Care, Prayer Chain and the WCC Rummage Sale. In the community, Doris volunteered as a Pink Lady at Methodist Hospital and in the canteen at the Hennipen County Correctional Facility. Doris loved traveling, reading, needlework and bridge. She treasured the friendships that she made through her various bridge groups. Most of all, she loved to see her family grow and thrive. She is survived by her beloved husband, Mike; daughters Mary Velisano (California); Karen Nance (Iowa); Janis Shannon (Ohio); and son, Michael Dietz (Minnesota). She will also be lovingly remembered by her six grandchildren.
