Age 81, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2007. He was born on June 19, 1925 in Charlevoix, MI the son of Clifford and Viva (O’Murphy) Sutton. Donald received his Bachelor Degree from Central Michigan University and his Masters from Iowa State University. Donald married Ruby (Johnson) in June of 1947. He then spent 30 years in education, sixteen of those in the Charlotte School District. He was a classroom teacher in Math and Science, a Junior High Principal and a High School Principal. Donald was a member of the Lions Club, American Legion, and First Baptist Church all in Portland. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening, sailing, and traveling. Following his teaching career, Donald was a financial planner for 10 years, after which he took up genealogy. He is preceded in death by his wife Ruby in 2005 and brother Floyd. He is survived by his children Patty (Dave) Snyder of Charlotte, Janet (Wendell) Holt of Elwell, AK, Charles (Patricia) Sutton of Charlotte, and Mike (Cheryl) Sutton of Ninilchik, AK, 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and first cousins, Helen Johnson of Charlevoix, Pauline Bowman of Grand Haven, and his sister, Eleanor Joslin of Miami, FL.
