Donald Alfred “Buff” Monson, age 75, longtime resident of Hibbing, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012 peacefully at his home. He was born August 4, 1936 in Crosby, MN the son of Russell and Helen (Hanson) Monson. Buff graduated from Hibbing High School, and was united in marriage to Donna Olson on January 26, 1957 in Hibbing.
Donald was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hibbing, and was a 40-year member of the Biwabik Masonic Lodge #293 AF & AM.
Donald is survived by his wife: Donna; his son: Geoffrey Donald (Sandi
Bailey) Monson of Hibbing; and daughters: Jodie (Alvin) Monson-Albrecht of Duluth, Leslie (John) Deferrari of Winter Garden, FL, Charlene Bolan of Duluth, and Shaun (John) Karakash of Chisholm, MN; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother and sister-in-law: Wayne and Jane Ann Monson, granddaughter Carissa Rae Monson, and nephew: James Russell “JR” Monson.
A private family service was held.
