Don Miller, 84, of Warren, died on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.

Donald John Miller was born on May 12, 1936, in Joliet, IL, the son of Peter and Ella (Abrhamson) Miller. The family moved to Stephen, MN when Don was three years old, later moving to rural Warren, MN, when he was a freshman in high school. He graduated from Warren High School in 1954 and moved to Minneapolis to work for Ford Motor Company.

On March 6, 1959, Don was united in marriage to JaNean Thompson, in Buffalo Lake, MN. The young couple made their home near his family in Vega Township and worked the farm together, side by side, for many years. He and JaNean raised six children on the farm, and he instilled a love for the land in each of them. In addition to raising his crops, Don worked for the Warren elevator in the winters and earned his pilot’s license. He was on the Alvarado School Board and was a member of the local Lions Club. In 1994, to acknowledge his life’s work on the farm, Don was named a Town and Country Master Farmer.

Donald is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, JaNean; children, Russell (Sue) Miller, Randall (Candia) Miller, Rolland (Cara) Miller, MiChelle (Dan) Nybo, Michael (Donna) Miller, and Maureen (Kevin) Storstad; thirteen grandchildren, Tyler, Christopher, Kim, April, Brent, Grace, Leif, Brice, Brandon, Brooke, Megan, Timothy, Emma; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Kyle Miller; sister, Lori (Frank) Paulson; and in-laws, Orville and Adeline Thompson.

PRIVATE FAMILY SERVICE: Immanuel Lutheran Church, Vega Township, MN.
