Donald Lawrence Swanson of St. James, Mo., formerly of Lake Saint Louis, Mo., born June 27, 1948 in St. Louis, Missouri; lost his battle with cancer at the age of 64 years at home with his family and friends on March 7, 2013.
He was the first born son of Marvin L. Swanson and Marilyn A. (Fordice) Swanson deceased.
As a third generation brick mason, Don enjoyed a lifetime career as a bricklayer and mason contractor. His final venture was the ownership with his wife of Pheasant Acres RV Park in St. James, Mo. where he lived the semi-retirement life of campground host and fisherman as he appreciated the joys of new friendships and daily trout fishing. Through out his lifetime, Donald was known for the pleasure he found in helping others to experience and love the great outdoors through fishing, hunting, sport shooting, boating and water skiing.
Donald is survived by his wife, Sharon Huff Horlacher Swanson of St. James, Mo.; his son: Aaron E. Swanson(Kelly) of O’Fallon, Mo.; sister: Charlotte A. Swanson of Florissant, Mo. and brother: David E. Swanson (Jenica) of Austin, Texas; step-children: David R. Horlacher (Patricia) of Costa Mesa, Ca.; and Paige E. Kelleher of Wentzville, Mo.; step-brothers: Rick Swanson (Kelly) and Jim Swanson: step-sister: Adella Swanson; eight grandchildren: Holly Pettis (Edward) of O’Fallon, Mo.; Caitlin Gansman of Foristell, Mo.; Kevin and Michael Swanson of Huntsville, AL.; Zane, Beckett, Piper and Penn Kelleher of Wentzville, Mo.; Delbert Swanson (Carol) of DeSoto, Mo.; Aunt Dorthea Yates of Harrisonburg, VA.; Cousins: Michael Swanson (Christine) of High Ridge, Mo.; Dodie Swanson of Bridgeton, Mo.; and Nancy Swanson of Wildwood, Mo.; and Pamyla Yates of Harrisonburg, VA.; and his many friends.
Donald Swanson is preceded in death by his parents: Marvin L. and Marilyn A. (Fordice) Swanson and one step-daughter: Jill M. Gansman.
