Donald Kathman, 85, of Argyle, MN, passed away on Tuesday morning, July 28, 2020 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND after a long courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his five girls.

Donald Harry Kathman was born on February 12, 1935, in Wanger Township, Marshall County, MN, to Harry and Theresa (Pawlowski) Kathman. He was raised in Argyle, and attended country school just west of the family farm. He was inducted into the US Army in 1958, serving his country as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division out of Lawton, Oklahoma. He was honorably discharged in 1962, returning home to farm. On September 2, 1961, Donald was united in Holy Matrimony to Stella Szczepanski, in Assumption Catholic Church in Florian, MN. They made their home together in Argyle before purchasing his parents’ farm, where they would raise five daughters. Stella passed away on August 1, 2013.

As a lifelong resident of Argyle, “Catfish” was active in his church, St. Rose of Lima; the Argyle American Legion; and the Argyle Sportsmans Club. He was an original member and cook (called “Doris” by his friends) of Camp 7 in Caribou, MN. Donald enjoyed cruising on his golf cart, gardening, fishing and hunting, even making it out last deer season in spite of his progressing illness. He also enjoyed trips to the casino, watching the Twins and Vikings, and attending high school sports or listening to them on the radio.

All CDC guidelines will be followed and face masks are required to be in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
