Donald “Don” James Oxendine of Steelville, MO passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan at the age of 70 years. He was born July 10, 1941 at Keysville, Missouri to James and Lorraine (Stites) Oxendine. On July 29, 1960 in Salem, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Helen Sisco.


Don worked as a machinist for many years at Brown Shoe Company.  He was a member of the Victory Baptist Church and was converted when he was newly married. As a young boy he loved to squirrel hunt and later he would go coon hunting and gigging. In his spare time, he enjoyed making wood carvings, painting and playing his guitar.


He will be sadly missed by his wife of almost fifty-two years, Helen Oxendine of Steelville, MO; two daughters Tammy Irvin of Steelville, MO and Karen Koch and husband Kenny of Cuba, MO; two sisters Ruby Kies and husband Joe of Utah and Maudie Casarotto of Lebanon, MO; six grandchildren Bobby Jo Irvin, Marty Renee Irvin, Danny Koch, Alishia, Alexander and Anthony Koch; three great-grandchildren Domynicc, Chase and Paytonn; one brother-in-law Gordon Sisco and wife Sue of Salem, MO; five sisters-in-law Wilma Harrison, Joyce Brisco,  Freda Harrison and husband Jerry, Janet Whitaker and husband Gary all of Salem and Linda Stagner and husband Louie of Springfield, MO; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and co-workers.


He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law Bobby Joe Irvin; and brothers-in-law Bill Harrison and Daniel Holman.


The Family received friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.


Honored to be casket bearers were John Trowbridge, Tom Trowbridge, Pat Fitzgerald, Tom Stagner, Mark Brisco and Jay Harrison.
