Dino James Bakeris, loving father, devoted papou, and longtime resident of Laurel, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2016 at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

Perpetually upbeat, generous, and a most mellow gentleman, Dino was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 13, 1936, the only child of the late James and Helen (Bosinakis) Bakeris. He attended the Barnard School for Boys and graduated from New York University with a degree in marketing and built a career in sales, at one point forming his own successful sales company. He moved to Maryland in the late 1970s and was known to down a few water fowl around the Chesapeake. He became an active alumnus helping his fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon, establish a chapter at the University of Maryland, College Park.

An avid collector of unique antiques, guns and knives, he enjoyed attending events with his collecting buddies and seeing his old friends at the annual Louisville and Atlanta shows. He always enjoyed attending his Mason-Dixon Knife Club meetings and even took a turn as its president. Dino wrote several articles for Knife World to share his collection and experiences. He always had a story to tell and brought smiles and warmth to the hearts of those around him.

He is survived by his son, Dean Bakeris, and his cherished grandson, Zachary Bakeris. He is also survived by many cousins, neighbors and friends across the country who will miss him dearly.

Καληνύχτα. Σ’αγαπώ.
